fun snack recipe for kids

The other day Callan and his BFF, Hannah, made some Pita Chips for a fun snack.  I found the recipe in my May 2011 issue of Family Fun.  They were really easy to make:

INGREDIENTS:
pita bread
olive oil
salt (I thought they tasted best with Kosher salt)
pepper
dried herbs

DIRECTIONS:
1. Separate the two round halves of each pita bread (when I made these at home I found it easiest to just cut the "seam" off around the outside).
2. Use small cookie cutters to cut the pita into shapes.
3. Arrange the shapes on baking sheets, brush the tops with olive oil, and sprinkle them with salt, pepper and herbs.
4. Bake for 7 minutes, or until the chips are lightly browned, rotating the pan halfway through.  (Watch the chips carefully!  My chips did not take 7 minutes, and they burn really quickly.)
5. Serve with hummus or salsa...or eat plain!  (can be stored up to one week)
