This is my husband.
But this isn't just any picture of him. This is a picture of him moments after he surprised me by arranging for me to have a weekend away from my normal mommy duties.
At 10:30 a.m. last Friday, the kids and I were enjoying a mid-morning snack together at the kitchen table (still in our pjs!) when a car that looked just like my mom's car pulled up and parked in the parking lot outside out house. I said to the kids, "Look! That car looks just like Nana's, doesn't it?" Moments later my mom stepped out of the car! "It IS Nana, Mommy!" Callan screamed, as all three kids ran to the front door. I stood there dumbfounded. What was going on?!?
My mom came in and said that Gene had arranged to kidnap me for the weekend. I was going to PA with her and Gene was on his way back from work to watch the kids for the weekend. He had taken off work, cleared my calendar (which he said was no easy task because I had added some things to our weekend last minute!), gave me some cash for shopping, and kicked me out the door while handing me my favorite Starbucks drink. I was kid-free until Sunday night.
It wasn't just an ordinary weekend either. Gene ended up taking the kids shopping for a friend's birthday present, took them to his softball game, took all three of them to Callan's soccer game, decided to take them to the zoo by himself Saturday afternoon, took them to church and served in Kinsley's class on Sunday, and took them to a friend's birthday party on Sunday afternoon! Crazy daddy. I have to say, it was nice to be exempt from all that craziness for 3 days!
Oh---and I forgot to mention that when I arrived home the house was SPARKLING clean! All the toys were away, the floors vacuumed, etc. I think I need to go away every weekend.

Thanks, Babe, for allowing me to rest for a weekend. It was greatly needed! You earned massive husband points! YOU ARE THE BEST!
