1st day of school

We decided to have the 1st day of school be today, on Labor Day, because Gene would be home and could be involved.

(We did not coax them to pick these professions!  Callan's words were, "I want to be a daddy because I can play with my kids."  And Kinsley followed up by saying that she wanted to be a daddy, too.  We persuaded her that a mommy would be more suitable for her.)

We started the day off with giving them a "First Day of School" gift.  Daddy wanted to get them a special t-shirt from him (collecting random t-shirts is kind of a hobby for him).  I went more on the practical side and decided to get them each their own portable CD player.  Each day we have "book time" for about 30 minutes where the kids are reading by themselves (off in a corner of the house....wherever they want to go).  Since they can't read yet, I get lots of books on CD from the library, so they love to listen to books by themselves.  With their new CD players they can each listen to whatever books they want during independent book time.  Gene and I also wrote them notes.

After gifts, we went to Krispy Kreme Donuts together and took our donuts to the park to eat and play.

Finn napped while the kids started math with Daddy.  Are the objects the same (identical), similar or different?

We ended the day with a trip to the pool.

Tomorrow starts the "real" first day of school...when Daddy goes back to work and I learn how to juggle homeschooling with real life.
