NFL kickoff

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, it is officially football season and the Hustons are pumped for another great one! As many of you know I am a Seattle Seahawks fan. Some people may think I'm a bandwagoner, joining because they had a great season last year, but trust me, that is not the case. Let me explain. Back in 1990 (or there abouts) I became a sports fan. The first step in becoming a professional sports fan is to choose your team. Now being Pennsylvania born, the sensible team to pick would be the Eagles or the Steelers. Well, as you know I like to be different, so I chose my teams. (Today we'll focus just on my football teams) So I decided that my team would be the New Orleans Saints. But wait you say. You said you like the Seahawks.

Well I followed New Orleans and they WERE my main team for a long time. But being an NFC team, I needed an equally bad team in the AFC to create my "ultimate super bowl." This is when I chose the Seattle Seahawks. But a few years back, the Seahawks joined the NFC and that's when I made the official switch.

I have never had ANY of my teams in ANY sport win a championship (probably because I pick bad teams). So Seattle's accomplishments last year marked a milestone in my sports fan career. Renee also likes the Seahawks colors, so that's a bonus for me.

Last to cut off some of your questions at the pass as they say. Why am I wearing number 96?(which at the time was Grant Wistom's number. Now he wears 98)

Well, in short, it's because my pastor, Joshua Harris, once challenged us to choose a jersey of someone I can respect. Well after researching, I found that Grant Wistrom does a lot of charity work for people with cancer, and THAT is something I can greatly respect.

I now also respect Shaun Alexander after reading his autobiography, which I highly recommend. He is a very devout Christian too! (And for all those who thought I was the ONLY person not to kiss my wife until my wedding day, he did it too.)

So let's all cheer on the Seahawks tomorrow as they take on the Lions.
