Well, the first week is over. Today ended up being a shorter day than normal. Our county shut down schools two hours early due to "inclement weather" (a.k.a. rain). It was quite ridiculous, but us teachers didn't mind! I'm all planned for next week and have all my papers graded already, ready to enjoy my three-day weekend! Gene's county wasn't as lucky.
We thought you all might like to see some "stats" on both of our classes:
MRS. Huston = 15 Gifted/Talented (G/T) Third Graders
MR. Huston = 18 Fourth Graders
MRS. Huston = 7 boys, 8 girls
MR. Huston = 6 boys, 12 girls
MRS. Huston = students are mostly American
MR. Huston = students are from America, El Salvador, Columbia, Guatemala, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico, and Dominican Republic
MRS. Huston = teach in an open-classroom (no walls, only a few partitions separate me from the 5th and 4th grade classrooms right beside me)
MR. Huston = moved from a small portable to a "nicer" portable (as nice as public school portables can get)
We've both been blessed so far with great kiddos who want to learn and are well behaved. We're hoping that we'll BOTH have a good school year (this has never happened simultaneously before). Last year was my year to have an AWESOME class and Gene's year to have a...well....not-so-good class, so I was scared that this year God may say, "Renee, your turn is up!" But, so far so good...
