Walrus, Walruses, Walri. Yeah I really don't know. With my rekindled interest in Greenland has come a few other random interests which I'll talk about in a little bit. Thanks to everyone who voted for my Greenland shirt, but the votes were all over the place making a narrowed down selection difficult. Here's a pic of the shirt that I chose. let me know your thoughts. I like old school history, so I liked learning about Vikings way back when in school. (Not so much the pillaging, as much as the exploring of icy regions) Another interest of old is the majestic, sleek walrus. So here's a few quick facts about the walrus. There are two types; the Pacific walrus and the Atlantic walrus. The Atlantic version is endangered due to over hunting by Europeans for their highly valued tusks.
Quick facts:
#1: Walri use their tusks for hauls their masses up on icy, dueling, and sometimes rock climbing. (Not clam digging!)
#2: Males grow twice as large as females though both have tusks.
#3: Walri can sing to attract a mate.
#4: They can kill a killer whale with their tusks (Watch out Shamu!)
#5: When they plunge off rocks into the sea they always try to land on their backs to protect those tusks.
#6: You can tell how old a walrus is by the rings in their tusks (Just like a tree trunk)
#7: Walri need to eat 100 pounds of clams, squid, or sea worms a day. Yummy.
#8: Viking called the walrus "whale horse."
To commemorate this amazing awesome beast I have designed a "team logo" for a possible future indoor soccer or volleyball team. Let me know which variation you like best.
