I figured I better write about these cute quotes that my 5-year old niece, Katelyn, said to me about her "soon-to-be-cousin" so that I can keep a log of them for the baby book:
--Yesterday I had on a non-maternity top, so naturally it made my stomach look more pregnant and rounder than if I was wearing a looser top. Then today at church I had on a maternity blouse, which had extra material and didn't make me look as huge. Katelyn jumped into my arms during one of the prayers and started rubbing my tummy and said, "Aunt Renee, your tummy looks smaller today! I think the baby is ready to come out."
--At Thanksgiving I started something with Katelyn where I said, "Come give your cousin a kiss, Katelyn." At first she was all shy and didn't like the idea of kissing my tummy, so she said, "Open up!" I'd open my mouth and she'd blow in a kiss for the baby. I started playing along and traced my finger from my mouth all the way down to my stomach, but stopped half way down and said, "Oh, no! The kiss got stuck and didn't make it all the way to the baby! You better try again!" And then she'd giggle and blow it another kiss and I made sure it made its way all the way down this time.
Well, I thought Katelyn would forget all about the kiss thing when I saw her again at Christmas, but she didn't. I went to leave today and said, "Katelyn, come jump up on this chair so that you can give me a kiss before I leave for Maryland." She gave me one and said, "That's for you. Here's another one for you to give to Uncle Gene. And here's a third one for the baby." And she kissed my mouth and traced her finger all the way down but the kiss got "stuck" (just like I had done before), and she said she had to do another one to make sure it got all the way down.
