What a whirlwind the past 24 hours have been. Last night around 6:30 we headed to the county fair with our good friends, the Petersons. About 15 minutes after we got there a monsoon hit the fairgrounds. We were trapped inside the goat barn for what seemed like a good hour or so. The boys (seeing that you can only chase 17-month-olds from goat cage to goat cage in a crowd for so long) sprinted from one animal barn to the next to show the kids the animals. After waiting by the goats with the strollers, Alexis and I got restless and headed to find the hubbies and kids.
It was about 8:30 now. We had 4 soaking adults and two overly-tired, smelly, animal-loving kids and, everyone was ready to head for the car. Since the rain really hadn't let up, we all decided just to make our way through all the puddles and monsoon to the car.
On our way home I said to Gene, "If we would have stayed home tonight we would have been so glad that we didn't get stuck out in the rain. But since we did decide to go and did get stuck in the rain, it ended up being a night full of memories that we all won't soon forget.

After we got home, Gene got the stomach flu and was up until after midnight. He hasn't thrown up for 10 years. He said after last night he should be good again until 2019. Callan also woke up at 4am because of the thunderstorms and wouldn't go back to bed until 9am. Needless to say it's just been a day of "doing nothing" here at the Huston household today.
