Ode to Del

Today marks a landmark in history, Del gets married. I am very excited for him and Renee and I know that God will bless their years together. To commemorate this occasion, I'd like to take a look back over the past 11 years I've know Del.

We met in late 1997, when Del became my RA in Elwell Hall at Bloomsburg University. He was a very quiet and very loud guy (he varies greatly depending on time and location)

I remember asking him (like many of you have) What do people call you? Jerry? Gerald? Del? I chose Del. Del was always super generous with everything whether it be Spaghetti O's, Slice, Coke, or going out to eat. Pre Maryland Del loved Orange Slice until his dentist told him he couldn't drink it anymore because it ate away all his tooth enamel.

There were tons of hours involving food and Mario Kart, but all those times were filled with fun and laughter. I remember when Del bit me in the head when we were having a snowball fight and chipped a tooth and having many foolish and many meaningful conversations about relationships and God.

We kinda lost touch but I would visit him occasionally at Bloom his 2nd time around like when Mark, Del ,and I won the 24 cherry coke drinking contest.

A few years ago I told him there was an opening at Weller Road and convinced him to leave his job for an interview. Though it's been a fun run working with him, carpooling, playing softball, and eating Spaghetti O's with Coke, the greatest thing about the past couple years is the way Del has dedicated himself to learning more about God. He has grown a lot spiritually and I have no doubt that that is why God has now given him a godly wife to lead.

I wish them the best and I know we will have many memories together in the new season to come.
