More to love

Callan keeps giving us reasons to love him even more...

--He now says "Bless you!" when someone sneezes. He can be off playing by himself and hear me or Kinsley sneeze in the other room, and he'll still say it.

--He picks up pieces of lint or dirt off the floor and brings it to me saying, "Yuck. Yuck."

--The other night we were all in the living room and Callan showed Gene his finger and said, "Yuck." The tip of his fingernail was coming off, and he wanted Gene to get it for him. Gene, not wanting to go all the way upstairs to get the nail clippers, bit it off with his mouth. Then, later that night I was putting Callan to bed. I was holding him and singing to him, and he had his head on my shoulder. All of the sudden he sat up and stuck his finger in my mouth! He wanted me to bite off another fingernail. Thanks, Gene, for teaching him that...

--He is now just as infatuated with Finding Nemo (or "Memo") as he is with Ice Age. Last night he was watching Nemo before bedtime. I shut it off before it was over because it was his bedtime. I told him that we would finish it in the morning. The first thing he said to me this morning when I got him up was, "Nemo! Nemo!" I can't believe he remembered!

--We started a new bedtime routine with him last week. We now sit on the floor in his room and read a Bible story to him and pray with him before bed. We go over a few phrases that we're trying to teach him, too. Right now we're reading through the story of creation and Noah's ark and working on having him repeat to us..."God made me. God made Mama. God made Daddy. God made Kinsley. God made hippo. God made monkey. God made rhino. God made buffalo. God made....." When we pray we ask God to watch over Mama, Daddy, Callan, Kinsley, and he adds in any other names that come to mind at the moment. Last night we had to pray for Nana and Grandpa, too.

--Callan baked his first muffins the other day! I had him help me mix the ingredients in the bowl and watch them bake in the oven. Then we read the book If You Give a Moose a Muffin, one of his favorite books right now. The only problem is that I was putting the batter into the muffin tins and he almost stuck his face right down into the batter because he wanted to eat it. I grabbed his face right at the last second before he went face first!

I wonder what he'll do today that will make me love him even more?!
