sweet talkin'

Callan James Huston. What a little stinker. That boy is learning how to sweet talk his way out of trouble already, and he's only two and a half. My boy has got himself a loud voice. All you have to do is step into any Brannaka (Gene's family) household and you'll know where he got it from. :) We've been trying to teach Callan not to yell while we are eating at the table. He loves to raise his voice and scream, which only provokes his sister to do the same.

Lately Gene's been saying to him, "Callan, you are hurting Daddy's ears when you yell. Don't yell during dinner or you'll have to be disciplined." Gene said that saying this to Callan actually worked the other day, because he seemed saddened by the fact that he was "hurting" Daddy.

So, today Callan started yelling at lunchtime (and his sister started following right along, too), and I had already warned him to stop yelling several times. Finally I went over to him, put my hands on his cheeks so he was looking right at me and said, "Callan, you're hurting Mommy's and Kinsley's ears. If you yell one more time you will be disciplined."

That little stinker looked right at me with puppy dog eyes and said in a sweet voice, "Oh, Mommy. Let me kiss your ears." And he proceeded to grab my face and turn my head to kiss one ear and then turned it to kiss the other.

I lost it. I laughed so hard that he started laughing uncontrollably, too.

What is a mom to do with her boy and his sweet talkin'? :)

Too funny-sounds a lot like Brendon these days. He is always grinning after he disobeys and saying, 'Kiss? Kiss mama?' And how do you discipline them after you have laughed at them. ;)

p.s. Brendon loves blanket time now... thanks for the idea!
