the same

Kinsley had her 6 month appt. today. It looks like she's growing at the same rate as her brother. Maybe even a little bit faster!

Callan at 6 months = 16lb 4oz and 26.5 inches

Kinsley at 6 months = 16lb 5oz and 27 inches

That extra ounce must have been the jar of bananas she had for breakfast before her appointment.

And, just because I haven't posted many pics lately, here are a few of Callan. He wanted me to put these plastic earrings on him that he found in his Mr. Potato Head bucket.

18 months

The boy turned 18 months on Oct 1st! What I love about him...

--when we pray with him before he eats he folds his hands (like he's always done) but now he repeats after us, "Dear Jesus.......(and at the end of our prayer) Amen." It melts my heart!

--he's obsessed with elephants and birds. At his 18 month appt the other day, he wouldn't stop pointing at the elephant in the book he was looking at and making the elephant noise for the dr. and nurse. He cracked everyone up.

--he's very efficient at his "chore" that he has to do now. He crawls down the steps to the basement and grunts until I look down at him pointing at the dirt outside Heman's cage. His job is to use the dustbuster to vacuum it up each day. He LOVES using the dustbuster and is very good about cleaning up every spec of dirt on the floor around Heman's cage.

--he started sitting with Gene while he's watching hockey and clapping for the players when Gene claps. Gene couldn't be more proud of his son during these moments. :)

--he finally successfully signs "please" instead of signing "more" for please and more.

--he's eating A LOT these days. He must be hitting a growth spurt (weighed 25 lb last Thursday). He comes into the living room, grabs our hand and pulls us into the kitchen to the refrigerator. He knows where we keep the goods. :)

--he's very compassionate towards other kids. When another child is crying he immediately goes up to them and gives them a hug. Can't wait to see how he is around his little sister/brother.

He loves to chill on his beanbag and watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Whenever Mickey calls for "Toodles" to come help him solve the problem, Callan tilts his head back (just like Mickey) and repeats after him, "Oh, Toodles." It cracks me up.

Still growing!

Callan had his 9-month appointment yesterday. We got the same outcome as last month...we still have a long and lean healthy boy! He got one shot and even had to have the 9-month blood-taking done at the lab (just like a real adult...with the rubber band tied around his arm and everything). He didn't cry at either one. He's such a tough little guy (just like his mommy)!

Actually, I had flashbacks of when my mom had to drag me into the hospital when I was little because I had to get blood taken. She had to pry off my little pink raincoat and hold me while the nurse drew my blood. My brother and sister sat in a big brown chair next to me and watched. Yeah---it's all still very clear in my mind. Hopefully Callan won't remember this e
xperience as clearly as I remembered mine.

The funniest part of the whole appointment was when we were waiting in the waiting room along with another mom and her 9-month old girl. In attempt to keep them both from growing restless as we both waited to be called back, we let them crawl around while we chatted about our children. They were both playing on the floor together, and I suddenly looked down to see my son and her daughter kissing! I rushed to grab Callan while muttering something about being gentle to little girls. We both ended up laughing about it (I'm glad she didn't seem offended). He usually doesn't even bother with other kids when he's playing around them. He'd rather play by himself. But yesterday he was all over this poor little girl! I guess I can mark down his first kiss as taking place at 9-months old with "Sophie."

I blame his cousin, Avery, who was all over him at Christmas giving him kisses. :)
WEIGHT = 19 lbs. 2 oz
LENGTH = 28 1/4 inches

"Dad, are you sure it's ok to drink soda?
Mom usually doesn't allow me to have this much sugar?"

"Ok. If you say so."

"Eww. I think I'll stick with nursing."

(No, we didn't really give him soda. He just periodically makes this face!)

6 Months Old

Callan didn't get to spend his 6 month birthday today doing anything too fun...unless you count getting 5 shots as "fun." He was quite the trooper, as usual. He did get to play with Aunt Beth and Noah, though, which is always a fun time!

6 Month Stats:
Weight: 16 lb 4 oz
Length: 26.5 inches

This month has been full of lots of FIRSTS:
--1st time eating solids (bananas and apples are his favorite)
--1st time "scooting" across the floor (we'll have a crawler in no time)
--1st boo-boo (he got his first big black and blue mark on his forehead from falling off the bed)
--1st zoo trip
--1st tooth
--1st time swinging in a real playground swing
--1st visit (to MD) from Aunt Tawnee, Uncle Brian, Uncle Aaron and Avery

3 Months Old

Today Callan is 3 months old. He doesn't have a dr.'s appointment this month, so we won't know his stats until August. At his 2 month appointment he was 11 pounds 1 ounce and 24 inches long. He's in the 90th percentile for height. He's a tall skinny guy! No chubby rolls yet, but he's out of all his 0-3 month clothes because of his length.

Check out this "deer in the head lights" picture:

Happy 1 Month!

Callan is one month old already! How fast the past month has gone. Today was his one month appointment. He's quite the growing boy! One of my questions to the Dr. was, "Is he getting enough to eat?" but I didn't even get the chance to ask the question since he went from 7lbs 12oz to 9 lbs in just two weeks!

weight = 9 lbs 1 oz (He totally skipped 8 lbs and went right to 9!) length = 22 inches
head = 37.5cm

Your many faces keep me laughing big boy! I love ya!
