The Parable of PB & J
Once there was a jar of Peanut Butter who was diligently seeking to get off the grocery store shelf. On that same shelf, a little further down the aisle, was a jar of Jelly who was eager to do the same. One day an old man came into the store. He purchased Peanut Butter and Jelly and put them into the same bag to go home. So Peanut Butter and Jelly started talking as they got put onto their new shelves in the old man's house. They enjoyed talking to one another but saw how different the other one was.
Peanut Butter said, "Some day I'll meet a nice Peanut Butter (definitely Jiff Creamy PB). Maybe we'll settle in some Peanut Butter Cup ice cream."
Jelly simply replied, "I never thought much about it."
So, time went by and they continued talking. In time, the old man returned to the cabinet and took both of them off the shelf. Peanut Butter wondered if this was the day that she'd meet Mr. Creamy, while Jelly just thought that it was fun to be off the shelf. Well, the old man scooped out the Peanut Butter on a slice of bread and did the same with the Jelly. He placed them together between the two slices of bread. PB & J, though still very different, realized that they complimented each other. Sitting on the shelf in the grocery store, they would have never thought of this combination.
(This story was taken from an email that I wrote to Renee during our courtship...hence my nickname for her, Princess PB and the title of our Blog.)
