Thar' She Blows!
Those of you who know my husband know that he loves to make "themes" out of everything. Each week Gene plans a special date night for the two of us to spend time investing in our marriage. It's not unusual for me to come home from work and find that our date night for that evening has been specifically planned around Gene's latest theme idea. Well, last week when I came home Gene informed me that Date Night was going to be centered around a novel he just finished reading, Moby Dick. For weeks I heard him exclaim how great this American classic was (I was still getting over the shock of seeing my husband actually sit still long enough to read a novel). Now I found myself ready to embark on "Moby Dick Date Night."
Now, when my husband makes up his mind to plan an event around a theme, he makes sure to go all out. He decided to ask our good friends, Jeremy and Rachel Ellis, to join us for this date night. They were gracious enough to play along with the night's theme. Our first stop was dinner at Moby Dick, House of Kabob. Next was the VERY long version of Moby Dick, the movie. We even had Whale snack crackers to munch on. Gene even made sure he dressed appropriately for the evening by wearing his Whalers hockey shirt.
Moby Dick has been put back on the shelf for now (Gene's been trying to get me to read the book, but the three hour long movie was enough to hold me over for awhile). Those of you who are married, we greatly promote setting aside time for weekly date nights. We'll post more of our favorite date nights in the weeks to come. With my husband, I never know what to expect next...

Fun! Gene is such a fun guy ;) Lew likes themes too, hopefully one of these days they can put their heads together and come up with a theme night double date for us ;)
Good times and excellent planning, although now that I have seen graphic reenactment of what actually is involved in whaling, I am beyond disturbed. Way too messy...I think you should include something about the poor whales in your Antarctica song. It was fun hanging out with you guys!
Greets to the webmaster of this wonderful site! Keep up the good work. Thanks.
