Last night we had our monthly meeting with our married care group (small group) from our church. My friend Steve Techtmann and I started a care group olympics for this year. The rules were simple. Each couple has to "create" a country name and flag in order to compete in Olympic events which would follow throughout this coming year. Our country is Hustonarctica and our flag is yellow and blue and contains a picture of our good friend Phil. Renee's arm patch reads, "wif-E" and mine as shown in the pic says, "hub-E". Hustonarctica is a new nation a little over a year and a half old. It contains only two citizens....us. It has been a power to be reckon with in all two of the olympic events. The first event was a mens' singles short dance program. I wouldn't say that the good Lord has blessed any of the men in our care group with the gifts of ryhthm or dance. Techtmannastan took the gold with an unbelieveble performance that involved ribbons (seriously, who can compete with ribbons?). It truly was a memorable display. I took home the bronze in the dance competition grooving to Vanilla Ice's "Ninja Rap". It too was a glorious display and one of the highlights of my personal career. (Perhap we can add a video clip of it in the future for you to enjoy.)
Last night we took home the gold in couples ping pong (we refuse to call it table tennis) and then partook in some Dance Dance Revolution which Phil greatly enjoyed. He dwarfs grooving abilities, but Renee and I still had fun and many laughs.
Stay tuned Monday for classroom pictures and the "Choose Your Favorite Classroom Contest." Be sure to take in each setting as I'm sure there'll be many fun teacher stories that take place right in those settings. The stories will be real, but the names may be altered to protect student identities. Have a great day ya'll.
Phil bustin' a move!
