Flashback Friday: Born to be a Ballerina?

When I was little, I took ballet classes for nine years until I switched over to gymnastics for another few years. I thought that I was born to be a ballerina. I loved putting those little pink slippers on and doing "pirouettes " around the house. The scratchy pink tu-tu was also another of my favorites. (Unfortunately, out of all the CUTE pictures I have of me in my tu-tu or leotard with my sister, this "cat" photo is the only one I could find to show you all. My friend, Gretchen, and I were in a ballet recital together where we had to dress up as cats.) My poor brother sat through endless ballet recitals watching my sister and I gracefully move about the stage. This passion carried on through highschool where I helped choreograph my highschool musicals, which was also tons of fun.

The reason for this "ballet flashback" is because last night my (brave) husband took me to see a ballet. A friend of ours who is in our Care Group told us about this ballet company that travels around the United States doing shows based on biblical stories. Last night they were doing a ballet based on the story of Ruth in the bible. Our friend's sister actually played Ruth in the ballet last night. That was our motivation for going, and it turned out to be a wonderful performance. They preach the Gospel message through dance and travel the world using their talents to spread God's Word.

So, if you are a dance freak like I am, click HERE to see their website or to see if they will be traveling to your city anytime soon. You won't be disappointed! (Gene even admitted that he liked it!)
