Renee and I got into the car at 5:30am on Friday and headed to Canada. It was a seven and a half hour journey from Gaithersburg, Maryland, and we set out. I wore my hockey jersey and Montreal Expos hat to show my Canadian spirit!
We stopped and had a drive by lunch with Tonya before her training at Wendy's in Erie, PA. Phil even made a guest appearance to say hello to Tonya!
Then we got back into the car and headed north from Erie. The funniest thing on the regular driving route was a sign located half way between Erie and Buffalo which read, "Correctional Facility ahead. Please do not pick up hitchhikers." We took that advice, though we didn't see anyone. Not much to report en route to Canada until we reached the border. Before we ventured into Canada we converted some American cash into Canadian currency. We got to the border and a guard greeted us with the following, " Where you coming from? Where are you going? Have a good time." The whole process took about 5 minutes.
When we crossed the border we had culture shock. All of a sudden we saw signs reading 100km per hour....Uh, what does that mean? Oh yeah those are the little numbers under the mphs. The last metric shocker occurred when we got gas. $106? What does that mean? Gas can't be that cheap, can it? The answer is no! Canadians use liters, not gallons. So when the total came out over $50 (Canadian) I had to ask the gas station owner how many liters were in a gallon. The answer was four point something. So $1.06 per liter = $4.24 per gallon.
The trip home was long, and took 10 1/2 hours due to the back up at the American border. Tomorrow there'll be pictures from Niagara Falls and a handful of Canadianism such signs saying "Squeeze" instead of "Merge Left" to direct traffic. You gotta love Canadianisms Eh?

We just made the conversion for gas to liters/Canadian dollars the other day too! It's crazy! But I guess we'll have to get used to it.
