You know the Wife's sick when...

My wise and loving husband has been giving me strict orders the past few days since I've been sick. Here are a few things that I've noticed:

You know I'm sick when...
Gene leaves me a note the day I stayed home from work that says, "Do not unpack from our trip or put things away when you wake up." (what I would usually obsess over when we get home from long trips) and I don't even give the pile of luggage a second glance.

You know I'm sick when...
Gene unpacks all the luggage from our trip and does all the laundry, and I don't even notice because I'm passed out on the couch.

You know I'm sick when...
Our over-the-door shoe rack falls apart, which dumped approx. 40 pairs of shoes right in front of our front door...and we're both still jumping the pile to get in and out of our house.

You know I'm sick when...
Gene admits that the bathroom is getting a little bit dirty ("little bit" in his language = "the tile floor is ready to get up and walk away it's so dirty" in my language) and tells me that I'm not allowed to clean it today because I have to rest, and I don't fight with him about it.

You know I'm sick when...
He tells me to come straight home after work and take a nap, and I do.

You know I'm sick when...
One of my students comments today that I've been "crabby" lately.

You know I'm sick when...
The marking period at school ends next week, and I have a pile of stuff to grade, portfolios to put together, fluency tests to run on 15 students, another Social Studies unit to teach...and I'm not freaking out about it (yet).

You're making me feel bad. I wish I was there to "Mother" you :(. I don't care that you're 27. Hope you feel better soon!!!

I was laughing through this whole post because I can completely relate. I just came home from our family vacation with the flu a week ago and I am just getting to unpack my suitcase and the house is a disaster. Aren't husband great though (mine made me stay in bed and not clean too!) - they really don't mind the messy house!
