--Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew).
--Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same.
--His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products.
--Most of his basic physical development is now complete
--He'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
Thoughts from Mommy:
--Last week at my appt. Dr. Tran looked at my belly and said, "Woah! Look at that!" Apparently the huge "lump" that's been jutting out from the one side of my stomach is the baby's butt. She pointed to it and started laughing, "The baby's got its butt up in the air!" That was enough to prove to me that I have a "little Gene" on my hands. What a ham!
--Sleeping is getting worse and worse. You can set a timer by my bladder during the night. Every 2-3 hours I'm up.
--Things I can't wait for: to hold my baby, to see what he/she looks like, to find out if it's a boy or a girl, to find out what boy's name Gene and I will finally agree on (we're pretty set on a girl's name now), to sleep on my back, to pick something up off the floor without grunting, to be able to sit on a couch and relax without back pain, to finish working (4 more days!!!).
