So as many of you know, I'm a hockey fan. No I've never lived in Nashville but I like the Predators. Anyway, one benefit of living near DC is once every other year the Predators come to town and I can see them play live.
Last night was the night they were in town, so I asked my friend Mark if he'd like to go with me since Renee was watching Callan and couldn't go.
So I decided to try to get better seats in the lower section using ebay...and I managed to get two lower section seats for the price of the nose bleed seats. So this added to my excitement.
Then after school things went down hill. The tickets I got from ebay were emailed to me to print out. The trouble was our school's internet was down all day, meaning that I'd have to go home, print them out before taking the Metro down to meet Mark at the Verizon Center. Well at first they only sent me one ticket but that was quickly ironed out when the second popped up in my email.
No for the super "fun" part. Renee dropped me off at the metro and off I went to get there a little early. Well at the Van Ness stop, the train stopped and it was announced that there had been reports of smoke in the tunnel ahead. After sitting for about 10 minutes we headed further south. Then there was an announcement that the train would be going all the way back due to a fire.
So I, like everyone else got off the Metro with not a clue of what to do. I was 6 stops away from my stop. People were pouring our of the Metro and the bus stop was 500 people deep. The taxis were all overbooked, so like many others I headed south on foot. I decided to run because they said that one or two stops on the other side of the fire the Metro was still running.
Well long story short, I ran 2.52 miles on foot in 40 degree weather, passed the zoo to Dupont Circle. I was running along side men in running tights in boots. yay! Then I got on the Metro, panting and realizing I need to exercise more.
I got to the game, which was awesome, even though the Predators lost in an over time shoot out, but I missed most of the first period and Mark greeted me with a laugh.
It was an "interesting" night, and I enjoyed myself when all was said and done. I can only hope and pray that next time the Predators come to town in 2010, it'll be less of an adventure. :)
