So after Callan's friend Hannah had learned the 50 states we (I) left compelled to teach Callan his states as well. I had gotten a few gifts cards from my students and went to Borders to get a USA puzzle. We've been working on his states for the past few days. Some states have pictures, so I try to connect the states to the pictures. Nebraska has a buffalo that's running and Kansas has a jumping buffalo, so of course Callan likes those. Callan also knows that alligators are in Florida and the cowboys (the people, not so much the football team) come from Texas. Other states he's working on are Montana (where tractors are), Pennsylvania (where grandparents and Tucker live), Georgia where peanuts come from, Oregon where fish come from, and of course Alaska where polar bears live.
So he has about 9 out of 50 states done. Then we'll work on dates they entered the Union. He should know these things. he is two after all.
