So, our son is officially a fruitcake (emphasis on the fruit part). Yesterday I came home from the grocery store with a watermelon. Gene unpacked the groceries for me while I ran another errand. When I returned, I found Callan sitting on the living room floor watching tv...with one arm around the watermelon. Gene informed me that Callan insisted on having the watermelon sit beside him. Apparently it was his new friend.
We told him that we were going to take the watermelon upstairs and cut it up to eat. He loves eating watermelon, so we thought that this would intrigue him. Nope. Every time one of us walked into the living room, Callan would hover over the watermelon thinking that one of us would snatch it up. Oh my.
So, when it came time to go to bed (all 4 of us slept in the basement last night because our AC is not working), I kept telling Callan that he had to be very quiet because Kinsley was already asleep in the room. He was being very squirmy and seemed like he was on the verge of a possible breakdown (hey, who wouldn't be when it's 100 degrees outside and there's no AC inside). So, in order to calm him down and get him to go to sleep in his makeshift bed on the floor, I asked him if he wanted the watermelon to sleep beside him on the floor. He was very excited about this, so here's the end result...
