Gene's Teams - The mysteries explained

Callan has just started enjoying watching sports over the past few weeks. He and I have spent the past two nights playing baseball in the back yard. He apologizes after every strike (he's taking it very seriously) and he says "I hit it all the way to Daddy's trooper or I hit it to the fence"

He also has been clapping and saying touchdown while watching Saturday/Sunday football games.

The question will be which teams he chooses to cheer for since Renee isn't really into sports, we live in Maryland, and my teams make no sense (at least not geographically).

Here's a quick breakdown of Daddy's teams and why:

NHL - Nashville Predators - I used to like the Hartford Whalers, but they moved to Carolina. The Whalers played the Penguins the first time I saw an NHL game live. I chose the Predators because they were a new team around the time the Whalers folded. The Predators almost folded two years ago, but I "think" they'll stay in Nashville for awhile.

NFL - Seattle Seahawks - I used to like the Saints in the NFC and Seahawks in the AFC, but when Seattle moved to the NFC I was forced to choose.

MLB - Colorado Rockies - I originally loved the Montreal Expos - but they folded and moved to Washington. I really tried to like the Nationals, but I just couldn't. I chose the Rockies a few years ago and enjoy their end of season playoff runs

NBA - Oklahoma City Thunder - I used to like the Seattle Supersonics but they folded and moved to Oklahoma City. Although basketball is my least favorite sport I do enjoy watching the playoffs

College Football - Boise State Broncos - I chose them long before they were ever ranked, but I used to use them (and the Wyoming Cowboys) in the NCAA playstation game. So I'm excited that they are actually ranked this year.

The moral of my sports story is that when you choose all of your favorite teams when you're 9 and you choose teams that have never won a title and no one really follows, your teams will most likely fold and change cities. So "if" Callan follows Daddy's teams, they may no longer exist by the time he's 9 himself.
