One day last week, during dinner Callan did one of his usual deep breath sighs "hhhhhhuhhhh" when asked to eat something from his tray. We've talked to him about obeying right away with a "Yes Mommy" or "Yes Daddy" instead the big sigh of complaint. I didn't know that was one thing Renee had been working on with him that day, so she took him for a time out.
Flash Forward to last night at dinner. I was making an additional meal of Mac and Cheese for Kinsley who was being a picky eater, when Renee stood up stretched and sighed (because it had been a long meal).
Callan quickly said, "Mommy." She wasn't listening to him, but I heard what he said so I told him to repeat it for her nicely which he did. Callan looked at her and said, "Mommy, No hhhuhhhh. You need to take a time out."
We both had to laugh at that, especially me because Callan is so literal to the things we teach him. Well at least we know he understands what we're teaching him.
