We love strawberry picking season around here! Today all four of us went to pick some strawberries. After about 45 minutes of picking, we came home with about 12.5 lbs of strawberries! Yes...one very pregnant mama, one hyper-active 17-month-old strawberry-eating toddler, one very cooperative three-year-old, and one very tired daddy pulled together to pick 12.5 lbs. I think that's pretty impressive.
Kinsley kept herself busy with eating half the field. Both kids came home and got thrown into the bathtub 'cause they were covered in strawberry juice (mostly Kinsley). It was a fun family outing, though!

Tonight for dessert we enjoyed some homemade strawberry shortcake. YUM! Yesterday Callan helped me make some biscuits in the breadmachine, and then we used cookie cutters to make the biscuits into shapes instead of circles ('cause everyone loves to eat a summer dessert in the shape of a snowflake!). (It wasn't "shortcake," but the kids enjoyed eating the leftover biscuit shapes with butter.)
Then we mushed up some hand-picked strawberries and whipped up some homemade whipped cream, using some of the heavy cream we bought at the Farmer's Market yesterday. A dessert doesn't get much more homemade than this!
