happy father's day 2013

Our church had moms send in video clips of our kids saying things about daddy.  For some reason our clips weren't included in the church's video, but here's what I submitted.  I put all of the clips together in one video for Gene for Father's Day.

We love you!

strawberry season

We love strawberry picking season around here!  Today all four of us went to pick some strawberries.  After about 45 minutes of picking, we came home with about 12.5 lbs of strawberries!  Yes...one very pregnant mama, one hyper-active 17-month-old strawberry-eating toddler, one very cooperative three-year-old, and one very tired daddy pulled together to pick 12.5 lbs.  I think that's pretty impressive.

Kinsley kept herself busy with eating half the field.  Both kids came home and got thrown into the bathtub 'cause they were covered in strawberry juice (mostly Kinsley).  It was a fun family outing, though!

Tonight for dessert we enjoyed some homemade strawberry shortcake.  YUM!  Yesterday Callan helped me make some biscuits in the breadmachine, and then we used cookie cutters to make the biscuits into shapes instead of circles ('cause everyone loves to eat a summer dessert in the shape of a snowflake!).  (It wasn't "shortcake," but the kids enjoyed eating the leftover biscuit shapes with butter.)

Then we mushed up some hand-picked strawberries and whipped up some homemade whipped cream, using some of the heavy cream we bought at the Farmer's Market yesterday.  A dessert doesn't get much more homemade than this!

just like daddy

Callan often has to do things "just like daddy." One of my favorites is when Gene uses the Wii Fit and Callan runs to get his "Wii Fit" pads, too. He grabs a piece of his rubber play pad and puts it beside Gene's Wii Fit pad to workout with him. Monkey see, monkey do...

daddy is home

We are all happy that Daddy made it home from T4G safely, but I think a certain boy really missed his daddy...

a proud papa smurf

Gene loves t-shirts. Collecting various "crazy" shirts has become almost a hobby for him. When Callan was born, Gene had on his Tonka t-shirt. The first gift Gene bought for Callan was a Tonka truck.

When Kinsley was born, Gene bought her a Smurf toy. When he came home he ordered a Papa Smurf shirt and made a smurf onesie for Kinsley.

More Playtime with Daddy

I wondered how Callan's red fabric toy bins got all stretched out the other day. These pictures taken by Daddy explain it all.

Favorite Movie

Summertime means lots of outside play time with Daddy and lots of inside lazy time with him, too. Callan will sit still for the entire Ice Age movie. Gene taught him well...

The one day I found Callan rummaging through our DVDs, which he's not allowed to do. But what was so funny about it was that he looked through all of them and found the DVD for the 2nd Ice Age movie that we have, the sequel. The kid knows what he likes!
