happy father's day 2013

Our church had moms send in video clips of our kids saying things about daddy.  For some reason our clips weren't included in the church's video, but here's what I submitted.  I put all of the clips together in one video for Gene for Father's Day.

We love you!

father's day pictures

Father's Day 2011 began when all four of us woke up sick with coughs and runny noses, which meant going to church was out of the picture.  Instead we made the most of the day and tried to honor and serve Daddy as much as we could, while passing around the tissue box to each other.

Callan gave him his gifts, a t-shirt from cafepress and a dodo bird bumper sticker (he requested both).  We also played the video that I made for him, and Callan kept asking him all morning, "Daddy, did you like your video?"

I suggested that we go to get doughnuts in the morning at Krispy Kreme.

Gene then got the afternoon off (while the kids and I took a nap) to go spend some time searching for some materials to do some artwork, his main focus this summer.

I prepared a "Gene" dinner while he played Wii with the kids.  Hot crab dip (first time I made this and it was soooo easy) and bison burgers with his favorite smile fries.

The kids and I are grateful that today is the first day of summer vacation for Gene.  We'll get to spend time with him all summer while he pursues his artwork and we all prepare for Baby #3 in August!

Father's Day #2

This is Father's Day #2 for the hubby. I've been jealous of my husband lately. Ever since he's been off school for the summer (a whole 2 days so far), he's already taught Callan several things that I've been trying to teach him for months, and Callan cries whenever Gene leaves the room. They have become quite the buddies in the past two days. Cries of "Dadda! Dadda! Dadda!" fill the room whenever Gene walks into the house after being away. Callan barely notices when I come home. haha

It's very cute to see him latch on to Gene, though. Callan couldn't have a better role model to look up to or learn from. I love seeing my two men bond over the movie, Ice Age, or building a tower with blocks...just to knock it over.

I'm extremely grateful for how Gene has cared for me the past few months since I found out I was pregnant. He's been quick to get up early to care for Callan and let me sleep in. These extra hours have been precious to me!

Thanks, Babe, for being a great father! Next year at this time you'll have two kiddos who will adore you.

Here are some pics of when we visited the zoo in May. Gene's doing what he does best...teaching Callan all about useless animal facts! (By the way, the one animal in the whole zoo that Callan was scared of was the cow in the petting zoo!)

First Father's Day

Daddy,
Thank you for teaching me how to beat my chest like Tarzan, getting me all rowdy before bedtime (did you ever notice how Mommy rolls her eyes when you do this?), helping me build my neck muscles so that you can finally sit me in my Bumbo seat, and changing my diaper at night to give Mommy a break. I can't wait to learn pointless facts from you about Antarctica and penguins, throw ball with you in the back yard, and grow up to be godly...just like YOU! I love you, Daddy! --love, Callan

My mom and dad came down to visit this weekend. It was great to spend Father's Day with my dad. Callan dressed for the occasion.
