Day 1: A success!

Yesterday was the first day that I've had both kiddos all day by myself...and it was a HUGE success! I didn't even have to call my mom until the end of the day, and that was only to tell her I had survived. :)

The kids slept in until 8:30am, which meant I did, too. Callan was super duper good all day long and even took a 3 hour nap. Kinsley was good, too, and napped and fed on schedule all day. I even got two loads of laundry and several other tasks done.

God was very kind to give me this easy day to ease me back into parenting on my own. I know each day won't run this smoothly, but I'll take as many as I can get!

"Don't Make Me Count to Three!"

Recently Gene and I began reading through books on parenting from our church's bookstore. For those of you who just raised an eyebrow, no, we're not pregnant. BUT that is not stopping us from praying for our future children that we hope God has in store for us. Reading through various books on disciplining has sparked good conversation between the two of us. I picked up the book "Don't Make Me Count to Three!" by Ginger Plowman last Sunday and finished it in less than a week. It was so good!

Even though we don't have kids yet, I've been able to apply what I'm learning with my students at school. In the back of that book, Plowman suggests 15 things to pray for your child. I typed up the list and now Gene and I are going to pray for one thing a day, each day, for our unborn children. It's never too early to pray for your child's salvation!

In case you are interested in praying through the list for your child (or future child, or grandchild, or niece, or nephew....you get the idea) here it is:
