christmas photo shoot

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....my friend, Beth, is a great photographer! I emailed her before Kinsley was even born to tell her (not ask her) that she would be taking pictures of her after she was born. :) Beth laughed, and she willingly agreed to come over after our little girlie came home from the hospital to get some shots for us.

You can see more pictures HERE at Beth's photography website. This one of Kinsley under the tree is one of my favs!

Thanks, again, Beth! You're the best!

Old Photos

My grandfather gave me some old photographs and newspaper clippings that he wanted me to put into a scrapbook for him. These three photographs are my favorites. I can't wait to talk to him over Christmas and hear the stories behind these pictures of him...

Poppop is the handsome one on the bottom left. :)

More trial pictures with the new camera

Since there's no baby yet, Gene and I have been taking walks around town with our camera. I've been trying to teach him some of the limited things that I know about using our camera's different settings. You know Gene....he loves to find the most obscure thing to take a picture of, even if it means getting down on his stomach on a busy street corner to take a picture of a leaf. I have to say that he got some pretty cool shots. He is still not interested in taking the time to edit them on the computer. After the photo shoots, he hands me the camera and says, "OK. Here ya go. Go make them look good!" So, here's some of his "around town" edited shots.
Ok...enough floral pictures for now. Next week we'll have a more interesting (and hopefully cuter) subject to shoot...BABY HUSTON!

An Amateur Photographer

We recently bought a new camera, and after reading some books about photography and talking to some knowledgeable friends who actually know something about taking pictures, Gene and I headed to the park today to try out the various settings on the camera. There weren't any flowers blooming yet to photograph, so I had to get creative with the other bits of nature around me. Here are some of the pictures that I took while Gene rollerbladed around for a bit. I like how the first few turned out after I edited the lighting on my computer.

I could make it look like the sky was actually blue today.

Gene was animate about me taking a picture of this acorn, and with our editing program, I made the dead grass look somewhat lively.

I hate geese....but like I said, there wasn't much else to photograph.

These next photographs were taken the other day in our backyard.
