New York, New York

So it's been a VERY busy week in the Huston household. It's the end of the marking period, so there are about fifty stacks of papers waiting to be graded. At my school there are parent teacher conferences to set up, Halloween parties to host, and did I mention....grading.

Last week we had to make lesson plans for our subs at work for Friday to boot! Thursday night through Saturday afternoon we had a care group leaders conference in Towson, Maryland. Our church graciously paid for our food and hotel room for both days. The conference was really insightful and helped equip us to better care for the souls of people in our care group and others. We know better ways to draw out sin in our hearts and seek to apply the gospel to life's situations.

So Saturday morning, we left Towson and headed 3 hours north to New York City. ( We actually stayed in Fort Lee, New Jersey, which is about 5 miles from the city) Saturday night we drove into the city and took some pictures of Time Square and the Empire State Building. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. I really enjoyed the Toys-R-Us. It was three stories and had a ferris wheel in the middle of the store. My personal favorite, the pinnacle of awesomeness was the full size robotic T- rex from Jurassic Park. Every few minutes he'd get grumpy and roar and thrash around. We also visited Grand Central Station, and after visiting I don't think we'll every try to understand the craziness of the New York transportation system.
Sunday we slept in and then again headed into the City. We walked around Times Square again and they were having a street fair. They blocked off a bunch of streets and had a multitude of vendors. Renee got a freshly made smoothie and I got BBQ chicken kabob on a stick. Yummy! We meandered down the street and into Central Park. Then we headed back in time for our Broadway show, Beauty and the Beast (a good representation of us). Renee and I really enjoyed the show, but we did NOT enjoy the pot holey, bumper-to-bumper craziness that is Sunday night traffic heading into and out of the Lincoln Tunnel. It was a good time and something that you should do if you get a chance.
