So as you know our baby has been a pea, a pear, a kumquat, and this week baby Huston is a cucumber. Well, there once was a story written by Eric Carle called "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." In this story the caterpillar eats all kinds of fruits and vegetables. We went back and forth on various themes for our upcoming baby room. Renee thought about a "Moon" theme based on a childhood song her dad would sing her. We briefly considered a polar theme which got me excited. Then we both agreed upon the caterpillar theme for the baby's room.
Since we didn't know where we'd be raising our baby for the first few months, we decided to have decorations that could be moved around. So we bought four canvases and a bunch of paint for our Date Night last week. Though the results weren't perfect, we now have our very own Very Hungry Caterpillar. We used an overhead to trace the caterpillar on the wall, and then I painted the body, while Renee applied the colored hairs as a finishing touch. It measures 40" by 32", so it's a decent size.
Let us know what you think, and you can view Eric Carle's book cover below to compare our caterpillar to his.

Wow. I definitely remember that book from when I was kid!
I say: good job guys - your caterpillar looks quite the same to the one on the cover! :)
I'm glad that you picked your own theme for the baby's room. The moon thing is kinda old (Thanks for remembering, Renee!) However, I don't know any caterpillar songs, so....
