28 Weeks

--By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels.

--She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes.

--With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb.

--She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Yesterday I had a most unpleasant New Year's Eve Day, but it was all for the good of my baby. haha I had my 28 week glucose blood test done by my dr. Then I had to go to another part of the hospital to get blood taken again because my blood type is A-, RH negative...which means that I am a part of only 15% of all Caucasians that have RH negative blood. (Lucky me.) After they checked my blood again at the hospital, then I had to go back to the lab 2 hours later to get an injection of Rh immunoglobulin in my hip to prevent my body from developing antibodies that could attack my baby's blood. (If the baby is Rh positive, I'll be the lucky one again who gets to receive another shot of Rh immunoglobulin after I give birth.)

The best part is that I get to do this all over again when we have other children! Yea for me! Thanks, Dad, for passing along the rare RH negative blood type to Tawnee and me. (Although I'm sure after giving birth one little hip shot will be the farthest thing from my mind.)

(Ali, belly pictures coming as soon as I download them from my camera.)

Hey! I'm in the RH negative club, too! :) It's not too bad. After delivering a baby, a shot won't be too bad if you need one. :)
