--This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark.
--He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening.
--The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (Yea for THAT fact!)
--These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
Thoughts from Mommy:
--I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks for a few weeks now. Not the most comfortable thing, but not painful yet either.
--Sleeping is getting harder and harder. I have good nights and bad (which means Gene has good nights and bad, too...poor guy). So many people say, "Get your sleep now because you won't once the baby comes!" This statement should actually be told to expectant mothers during their 1st and 2nd trimesters, because the 3rd trimester sleeping patterns seem to be just as inconsistent as it will be with a newborn.
--It's about now that I'm wishing it was summer and I could wear flip flops instead of having to tie my shoes each day. Not so easy...
--All in all, it's going well. Like Dr. Renzi said last week at my appointment (it was the first time I had seen him for a check-up), "Your medical file is really thin, so that's a good thing! The thicker the file, the more problems the pregnant mother has had for us to keep on record."
12 more work days to go!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
