Aunt Kel came to visit last weekend and brought us gifts from Texas! Thank you, Aunt Kel, for thinking of us! We love the book, t-shirt and armadillo. :)

everything's BIGGER in Texas
You know what they say....everything's bigger in Texas! Big surprises, big meals, big cups full of gelato! Finn and I traveled to Texas this past weekend along with Larissa and Lauren to surprise Kelly for her birthday. Boy was she surprised! It was worth all the flying just to see her tear-up when Finn arrived at her doorstep on Saturday. Aunt Kel didn't see that one coming!!
Finn did great on his first airplane ride. Hardly a peep out of him. He slept most of the way there and back.
Just relaxing on the patio before church
Here are some picture of the gorgeous house that we stayed at while we were there. This is Kelly's in-law's house. They built it for others to enjoy and to host a lot of hospitality events...and enjoy it we did!
(I fell in love with their front door. Love the arch.)
HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY, KEL! haha

all wet
Yesterday Kelly, our friend who is living in our basement, had off work since her office building didn't have any power. She was looking forward to a nice relaxing day of wedding planning and getting some things checked off her long to-do list. Instead, this is how she spent her day:
Thanks to a friend who lives a mile away, we were able to borrow a shop vac. Kel helped suck up some of the water while I tried to carry some of our wet belongings to another level as well as care for Kinsley, who had woken up by this time.
Thank you, Kel, for all your help yesterday in serving me while helping to clean up this mess! I'm so grateful that you had the day off or else we might have never discovered the flooded basement until you got home from work in the evening.
When Gene got home he finished sucking up the rest of the water and tore up the carpet to let it dry. Home ownership has been a lot of fun so far. In only 77 days we've....
1. had a broken AC
2. fixed the AC
3. had a broken dryer
4. bought a new washer & dryer
5. had a broken (new) washer
6. fixed the new washer
7. had a broken AC (again)
8. after 40+ days without AC (in the middle of July) we finally got a new AC unit put in
9. had a broken garage door
10. fixed the garage door
11. installed new french doors that were leaking
12. cleaned up a flooded basement
Can't wait to see what's next...
